Pick Three with Matt and Sean of Jimmy at the Prom

First up: Matt Turner, bassist for Jimmy at the Prom.

1. Ashdown Bass Heads

They rock! My gear handles ALL my gigs! From country to catastrophic noise, make it an “Ashdown Day!” You’ll just feel better! I couldn’t imagine not having my Ashdown gear! I was an Ampeg believer for years but now I find it hard to hit the stage without Ashdown.

2. TMZ

That’s right the tabloid show, with the lawyer host. I can’t turn it off, I want to!!!! But then who will tell me how Snooky’s baby is doing??? Or who Oprah isn’t doing. I know it’s kinda weird, but this show is hilarious and why not enjoy it if it’s there? Wait, everything I see on T.V. is true and real, right?

Nice Playlist, Brah: Keegan Dewitt’s Top 10 Tracks of 2011

Without further ado…

1. “Suck It & See” – Arctic Monkeys
In terms of music that is not X-factor, you won’t find a better singer than Alex Turner. Period. Just google this track and catch him doing it acoustic. It’s unreal. Not only is he one of our finest lyricists, but the song is about as classically constructed as they come now-a-days. I can’t say it enough, Alex Turner is beating everyone, at just about everything when it comes to indie music.

2. “Amanaemonesia” – Chairlift
This song is sneaky. It demands a second for your brain to get comfy. It shouldn’t be hooky, the chorusy bass, the beat that continues to invert itself, the strange lyrics… But it is. It’s ENDLESSLY catchy, especially by the time it reaches it’s blistering bridge. If you ever have the chance, catch it live, it’s infectious. This new Chairlift record is about to be the highlight of 2012 once it hits.

Ardent Sessions: Two Way Radio

You may not have heard of  Two Way Radio yet – but it looks like that might change in 2009. Lead singer Kate Crowder has a starring role in MTV’s upcoming $5 Cover reality series and the band is currently finishing up their sophomore album with critically acclaimed producer Scott Bomar. Sounding like the female version of The Boy Least Likely, the future is bright for this orchestral pop octet. Check out an earlier Two Way Radio release, Residential Llama, on Makeshift Music.
