Nice Playlist, Brah: Free Sol’s Top 10 Songs of 2011

It’s hard to pick just 10 songs sometimes, but when it’s a collaborative effort it makes it a little bit easier. The band Free Sol shares their top picks for 2011. Click to Stream!

1. Miguel – “Sure Thing”

I haven’t been in love with a song this much in I don’t know how long. Couldn’t keep this song off repeat.  – FreeSol Anderson

2. Mastodon – “Curl Of The Burl”

A. Mastodon is kick ass. B. We were produced by the same producer who produced them, Mike Elizondo. While we were in LA recording, Mastodon coincidentally had been recording next door. Me and Mike walked through and saw Andy Wallace’s set up. Soi.  – E. Ives

3. Jay-Z & Kanye West – “N**as In Paris”

Something about that beat that drives me fucking crazy, in a good way. It was between that one or “Lift Off” with Beyonce, also off Watch The Throne.  –FreeSol Anderson

4.  Young the Giant – “My Body”

I hadn’t heard this song until their live 2011 MTV VMA performance of the song. After a subpar show, this moment really stood out for me. They rocked the show and I loved the hook of the track. I immediately searched for the song online. - DJ Charlie White

5. Tyler the Creator – “She (Feat. Frank Ocean)”

Man, that record was crazy. Loved it. – Premo D’Anger

6. Big Sean – “Memories (Part II Feat. John Legend)”

This particular song reminds me of touring in the van. I think it’s safe to say that Big Sean’s album was one of the band’s favorite this year. Each one of us probably has a different favorite track on this album, but this was mine.  - DJ Charlie White

7. DJ Khaled Feat. Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne – “I’m On One”

The beat, Drake’s hook…enough said  -Kickman Teddy

 8.  T-Pain – “5 O’Clock”

Something about a foreign accent that gets my blood going. Haha, no I just love the song. Great song. – Premo D’Anger

9.  Foster The People – “Pumped Up Kicks”

This song makes me want to drink for some reason. It’s got this strange house party vibe that I can’t really explain, but I loved it. – DJ Charlie White

10. FreeSol – “Fascinated”

We gotta put this on the year’s best list! Come one man. We spent time in Virginia Beach with Timbaland finishing the record, we shot a video, and it’s been in rotation on the radio. –FreeSol Anderson

If you have not heard of Free Sol yet, you’ve been sleeping. The first band signed to Justin Timberlake’s Tennman record label, they recently made their national televised debut on Late Night with David Letterman. Look for them to take over the world in 2012.
