Pick Three with Jennifer O’Connor

1. Louis C.K.

I know the entire world is in love with this guy right now – and I am here to tell you that I am no different. I find his work to be so funny, moving, smart and inspiring all at the same time. It’s really quite a feat. You may have heard about his new show Live at The Beacon Theater which he is selling for $5 on his website louisck.com. No? Well, if not, it is awesome and you should go buy it.

2. “County Line” by Cass McCombs

Cass McCombs is one of my favorite songwriters. I have toured with him and he’s really a singular talent. But this song “County Line” from his 2011 release Wit’s End is on a whole other level of song greatness. It’s a great song, yeah of course, most of his stuff is great, but his vocal performance is just chillingly good and the production is also totally exceptional. I’ve probably listened to this song 500 times this year.

3. Our Hit Parade

My friends Kenny Mellman, Bridget Everett and Neal Medlyn do this really awesome cabaret show once a month in NYC at Joe’s Pub called Our Hit Parade.  They and a rotating cast of performers perform the top 10 songs each month. I have participated a few times and it’s always a blast. I’ve seen some of the most creative, hilarious and talented people at this thing. It’s really incredible.

This was a fave of mine is from the 90s summer jam show. It’s a country version of The Beastie Boys‘ “Sabatoge” by Neal Medlyn, Adam Horovitz, and Cey Adams. Genius.

Jennifer O’Connor is a Brooklyn, NY based singer and songwriter.
